The Chancellor of the Exchequer has announced a 12 month 'holiday' from Stamp Duty Land Tax on property purchases worth not more than £175,000.

Number of Patients starving on NHS Wards doubles in 2 years
The Conservative Party have recently obtained figures showing that the number of errors made in NHS Hospitals nationwide relating to poor nutrition has doubled in 2 years from 15,000 in 2005 to over 29,000 in 2007 – an increase of 88%.
- 17/07/2008 Hospital Trusts must do more to improve the Provision of Maternity Care A recent Healthcare Commission found that staff shortages, inadequate training, a shortage of consultants and inconsistent training has led to increasing rates of complaints of bad experiences and more worryingly life threatening or maternal deaths. Of particular concern is that antenatal standards for mothers whose pregnancies were likely to be more risky are not being followed.
